U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released a new version of and instructions for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. The new Form I-9 features a revision date of July 17, 2017 (07/17/17 N).

While employers may continue using a Form I-9 with last year’s revisions from November 14, 2016 (11/14/16 N) for now, as of September 18, 2017, employers must use only the new 07/17/17 N version.  Failure to use the new form after September 18, 2017 will expose your organization to penalties. Employers are not required to use the new Form I-9 on existing employees.
