Benefits Support Specialist

Position Overview
Our Benefits Support Specialist will play a crucial role in the administration and support of employee benefits programs for our clients. This role involves working closely with HR teams, external vendors, and employees to ensure the smooth operation of benefits programs, including health insurance, ancillary benefits, and other employee perks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, great attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to our clients.
What You Will Do
Benefits Administration:
Assist in the day-to-day administration of benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, financial benefits, and more.
Coordinate and manage open enrollment periods, ensuring accurate and timely processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
HR/Employee Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing accurate information and resolving issues promptly.
Educate employees on available benefits, eligibility, and the enrollment process through one-on-one consultation and written communications.
Assist employees with claims resolution, coordinating with insurance providers and third-party administrators as needed.
Vendor Management:
Manage external benefits partners and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of services and resolve any issues that arise.
Monitor vendor performance and provide feedback to ensure service quality and compliance with contractual agreements.
Compliance and Reporting:
Assist in compliance practices regarding all federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA.
Prepare and distribute required documents and notices, such as Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC).
Assist with audits and prepare reports as required.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improving benefits processes and employee experiences.
Participate in the development and implementation of new benefits programs and initiatives.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in employee benefits administration.
What You Need to Succeed
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
A Florida 2-15 Life & Health license, or the desire and ability to obtain one.
2+ years’ experience in a similar insurance or related health care customer service environment.
A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and learn.
Skills:
Ability to maintain a close working relationship with current agency leaders, but also have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Understand efficient working knowledge of established brokerage processes and procedures; project tracking, client history, communication, and documentation facilitated through Microsoft Office programs.
Be tech savvy and familiarize yourself with multiple different benefit administration systems.
Remain accountable for accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all client programs and projects.
Communicate expertly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Showcase problem solving skills and remain flexible and agile in an ever-changing environment
What You Can Expect From Us
Salary Range - This starting salary for this position ranges from $45,000-$55,000 and will be based on experience, credentials, and skill set.
Flexibility - This is a work-from-home position, allowing you the flexibility to balance your professional and personal life while contributing to the success of our agency. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, we may occasionally ask you to visit local clients, or to come to the office from time to time to enable efficient collaborative efforts.
